Lydia Gailey, PT, DPT, Cert. DN
Owner GVL Pelvic Health
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Lydia is a Gainesville, GA native and wanted the name of her practice to reflect her roots! When deciding a career path, physical therapy seemed like a perfect fit for her as it merged many of her passions of exercise, anatomy and helping others.  She obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of North Georgia and has been practicing in Gainesville specializing in orthopedic physical therapy since 2015.

Many personal events have occurred that have molded and shaped her into the clinician she is today. Two of those events were the births of her two children. She dealt with many pelvic floor related issues including urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and pelvic organ prolapse. At the time, she received pelvic health services at the closest location (which was Alpharetta!) and was so intrigued by the process. This pushed her to take the necessary coursework to be able to start treating pelvic health in Gainesville.

She also learned that navigating the medical world can be scary and difficult. In 2020, her 3-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer. While her son received fabulous medical care, Lydia was left feeling anxious while trying to advocate for the best support possible. She learned that there are gaps in our medical model when it comes to patient/family education.

Lydia, as a clinician, now is on a mission to provide the best education for her clients so they feel well equipped to navigate their conditions & empower them to make the best decisions for themselves. She loves to spend time educating clients on anatomical terms & physiological processes, in ways that are easy for them to grasp and relatable to the symptoms they are experiencing.

Lydia is dedicated to help every one of her clients feel their best and understand their own bodies. She is ecstatic to be providing a much-needed service to Gainesville and surrounding communities!

How do I start my
pelvic health journey?

Do I need a doctor/ physician referral to attend?

Fill out our contact form and we will contact you within 24-48 business hours to discuss your symptoms and any questions you may have about pelvic floor PT at GVL Pelvic Health. We can also schedule your first appointment on this phone call!

No, in Georgia you can see a physical therapist without a doctor referral. If you need more than 8 visits and/or treatment that last more than 21 days, we will require a doctor referral. There are also some conditions that we require a doctors referral and can discuss those with you. We are also able to contact your physician to obtain a referral for you.

Is this covered by insurance?

What can I expect on
my first visit to pelvic floor PT?

GVL Pelvic Health is not contracted with any insurance carriers. We are considered an out-of-network provider. This allows you and your therapist to decide on the best plan of care without insurance limitations.

If you have out-of-network benefits, you may submit a claim for potential reimbursement. We will be happy to provide a detailed superbill/invoice. The amount you are reimbursed depends on your individual plan. Seeking and obtaining insurance reimbursement is the sole responsibility of the patient.

All forms of payment are accepted at the time of service, including flexible savings or health savings accounts. A Good Faith Estimate is available upon request.

The first appointment will last 1 hour and 15 mins. We will perform a detailed and thorough physical therapy assessment. The findings will be discussed in terms that make sense to you and together we will determine an individualized plan of care. Most of the time treatment will begin on the first visit so please arrive wearing comfortable clothing!
